While trying to drive through to Winnipeg during the snowstorm (Sunday) Kris and I were listening to CBC Radio One. The program Tapestry came on and the subject was on the music that makes you feel more alive, brings tears to their eyes, or touches their very souls. Listeners called in with their picks and it got me thinking of the music I listen to and how it makes me feel. It took me almost a week but I thought of a song that just makes my skin tingle, my heart beat faster and leaves me feeling upbeat and ready for anything. To those who know my, as Kris puts it, "Love affair with Eddie Vedder" (not entirely true, I love them all equally) and could have guessed it would be a song by Pearl Jam, and the title ironically enough is "Alive".

"Alive" is a song about overcoming adversity and listening to it on my way to Dryden this afternoon lifted my spirits, it was just the thing I needed after this weeks numerous events.

"Alive" is even better live. Back in the fall of '05 I had the opportunity to see PJ play in Winnipeg and when the guys started plying you could just feel the energy rising in the crowd. It was by far one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
